Sunday, long time friends Ross and Stephanie who are getting married Ina couple months came out for a sail and to finally meet Mia. At the same time, my boat neighbor sailed with us on his boat over to bluff cove. After a failed side-tie attempt, he anchored a safe distance away and snapped a few photos of A Cenoura. We had lunch and Sailed a long route back.
Productive weekend replacing the hose in the head to be a wash down hose I can take anywhere in the boat. I will be able to wash off the anchor or the deck or myself by pulling it through the ceiling hatch. It should be more useful than the shower head I never used.
Replace the air filter with a K&N, WD40’d the engine and it seems happier. Pumped out, sailed my neighbor Connors boat in the gusty cold Saturday weather, then sailed a dock neighbors hunter 15’ around in the harbor. Then Sunday I sailed my own boat in much better weather. I think it’s the first time I sailed alone in 2.5 years.
Cory showing us the rope fall, as opposed to the rope swing.
Memorial Day weekend. Early morning pump out before Scott and Nicole arrive. The light off shore wind guided my boat into the better pump out dock. Then I backed the boat into the slip. Found out that it’s much easier to stop in the larger channel before the finger piers and go in reverse starting there and all the way down to my dock in reverse.

New job, new commute, still taunted by seeing good waves.

Mia and I got our second catalina island trip in! During one of the clearest and coldest few days in a long time. That satellite image shows how there were no clouds, the pictures show how completely flat the seas were, and other than bundling up and still shivering in the ~50 degree air, everything was great.
We left at 12:45 and were moored at 4:45. The following day we hiked north to Fourth of July cove, cherry cove and beyond, and when we returned to A Cenoura I was even able to relax outside in trunks it was so warm. For about an hour.
We woke up the next morning at 6:30 and it was bumpy, some small 6" waves were rocking the boat uncomfortably, we prepared to leave and got back in about 3.5 hours. This wonderful app called marine traffic shows you all the big boats and ships around you, also gives you a gps reading and speed of your boat. Hard to believe but it said we were up to 7.3 knots motor sailing on the way back… I’ll take it! It was an awesome trip and we were able to take advantage of the few free days left before I start my new job which promises long hours and some time even on weekends… We’ll see how that goes.

I went with Mia down to San Diego to hang out with her family that lives down there. Mostly spent time in leucadia, Cardiff, and Encinitas. They made this meat called “cardiff crack” that was insanely good. Fun to get to hang out with her aunt, uncle, dad and cousins.
Photo is from her dads backyard beach-access while we enjoyed a drink.
