December 14ish.

There’s one more photo from the holiday party the previous weekend. Mia is wearing her grandma’s fur coat, that thing was awesome. I felt like I was petting a cat when I stood next to her for photos.

Well this weekend was the Redondo boat Christmas parade, so there’s some pitiful boats with lights strung around their halyard or stay. I don’t think any of those boats pictured here ever actually move, so they probably missed out on any decoration rewards. I was home for the time of the parade but other than some horn honking and more footsteps on the dock, nothing special seemed to be going on.

Something that is most definitely special, however, is the new floor mat for the head/bathroom. I previously had a dark blue/gray rug that would bundle up or get pushed into a corner and wasn’t very soft - compared to this new thing - it’s a foam, high density, warm, stable-bottom-grip, foot welcoming bath math. Seriously, I am really happy about this $17 purchase.

Saturday was the “super bowl of surfing”, being the Pipe Masters in Hawaii. I’ll spare the details about the drama and the points scale and pro surfers, but I will say that I was more tuned in than ever because of my new job being so involved with the event. So on Saturday I dropped my truck off to get checked out at 8am, biked to the gym, worked out, biked to the boat, watched some surfing, went surfing, watched more surfing, got the bad news on my truck, got my truck back, got groceries, watched surfing, drank five beers, and made dinner.

Sunday I surfed again. Monday during work I surfed, and Tuesday during work I surfed.  The waves have been really good around here. This morning while walking up to the parking lot my neighbor saw me with my backpack, work-bag, and surfboard, and said “only in California would I ever see someone going to work in December with their surfboard” - yeah, buddy, that’s pretty accurate.
