Day 3 and Monday. I woke up Sunday morning to Scott doing a great job cleaning up the place before everyone else woke up. He put dish soap for hand washing dishes in the dishwasher as liquid detergent- that was bubbly - but everything else was shaping up nicely as people started waking up. Scott and I expressed our intentions to leave early while everyone else was dealing with hangovers and waiting for bacon wrapped hot dogs to be prepared for breakfast. Therefore, Scott and I left and drove back to Antioch. A photo of some of the rural roads to get there, bypassing the major freeways that don’t get close. I was again welcomed by the dogs, and again went to men’s wearhouse to try on the tailored pants, and then had an early dinner and drove back to LA that evening. My plan was to wake up in my own bed with the day off from work to get things done, and I stuck to the plan. I finally taped or re-taped necessary objects with rigging tape. That stuff is fun to use, seriously. I also cleaned the bird doodoo off the deck and port lights from them hanging out on my spreaders during the day. Also polished the old schwinn, cleaned the bathroom, unpacked, cleaned the shrouds of dust and dirt, re-tied the life sling rope to where I think is a better location, and just basically tidied up the place.
Today, Tuesday, it was back to work and that presented some heavy amounts of work, and some interesting news that will ultimately put more work on my hands. One of the highlights of my day - and likely impact my whole summer and beyond - is the purchase of a vornado fan, the real deal. I had a debate between a window fan and altering it to fit in the companionway, or a box fax, or whatever other options, but this fan is efficient and still small, and I’m happy with the choice I made for $60.
The bachelor party weekend was awesome. In summary it was my first bachelor party, it was especially great because it was for my brother and he has a solid group of friends, and they all pitched in to make delicious food. To note, Mike came up with adding orange juice to blue moon beer for a morning “beermosa” beverage, and there’s few things more empowering than shooting potatoes out of an explosive PVC cannon.
There’s a picture of a field in this entry, that was from Friday morning during a hike with my mom and the dogs at a nearby reservoir, there’s miles of open trails up there.
