Surf City, California. Otherwise known as Huntington Beach. This is the block a riot went down a couple nights ago after the largest North American surf competition took place for 9 days straight, has been every year for decades. There’s an enormous stretch of beach and a pier, it’s a central zone for good waves in Orange County. The place is mayhem in the summer. The spot is home to my new employer, Surfline.com. We are right there on the 3rd floor with the balcony. With an enormous majority of the market - of surfers, and mariners - using the Internet as a resource for marine weather forecasting, tracking surf conditions, tracking fish, tracking storms, and keeping up with news in the sport around the world, this is the place to go. Funny how I should surf, sail, and literally live on the water, that I have the opportunity to work in the accounting department under the director at such a prominent company in easily my largest personal Interest.
Although there is a commute, which i was able to avoid for two and a half years, it puts me back in familiar surf spot territory every day, and at a far better caliber than the South Bay, Los Angeles beaches I am sure to feel the buzz of a good dawn patrol session much more often.
