My mom flew into town for Mia’s graduation from law school weekend!
We got lunch and sangria at Simmzy’s in manhattan beach, went sailing in the warm light air, the sea was nearly flat, and Mia and I took a dip in behind the boat. After all of us got a lot of sailing and sun in, we anchored until the sun was heading down, went in, packed up and made dinner at the house Mia’s family had rented in Venice beach. What an awesome day.
The house was full of amenities and like 4 floors for partying and hanging out. It had everything we needed except for later on when we needed twice as many parking spaces.

Sailing Topic: A boom preventer is used when sailing downwind to keep the mainsail and boom from swinging across the deck and losing control, extra important to keep from knocking a person on the deck in the head or body and sweeping them off the boat, unconscious, into the water. I don’t have one, they cost around $175, also I don’t race or sail that much that I felt one was necessary. With my mom and girlfriend in the cockpit I grabbed a leftover line that came with the boat, tied a not around the end of the boom and another around a somewhere in the front of the boat, and it worked like magic.
