A few days ago I was admittedly burnt out. Catching a hefty cold, longer days at work and straining something in my back all became supporting reasons to take it easy this past weekend. I tried, with a few exceptions.
Having mentioned this before, Mr Clean Magic Erasers are awesome. The cockpit was looking scuffed up from the previous months of shoes and bike tires and weather and whatever else, so I set out to scrub all that stuff off and brighten up the cockpit. I ran out of the eraser sponges before finishing the complete job, but fortunately they’re cheap and sold everywhere. I am not entirely sure what the magic ingredients are, but to be sure that it’s not going to harm the boat I followed up with a boat-soap wash and a lot of water. You can see in the picture below the new shine reflecting on the cleaner half.
I don’t want to jinx the future, but a warm weekend with very mellow winds and virtually no swell is in forecast by then, and a few friends are itching to come sailing… that’s all I’ll say.
I was in Newport briefly this weekend. (photo from the bridge)
And back in Hermosa to check the surf - I bodysurfed crumbly waves just to get in the water. Rode my bike to the pier and slid the waves on the south side. (panorama photo)
