Sailing alternative

Mia's cousin Syd and friends all came over to go sailing, except that there was a small craft advisory for building wind swell and gusts forecasted in the afternoon. Otherwise it was sunny and warm, so we motored out and just anchored in the channel. Snacks, beverages, and cards took up the afternoon having a great time hanging out. We said that if the wind calmed down we would at least open up the sails to go up and down the channel. After a couple hours the wind gusted from the south for about 30 minutes and I have to adjust the anchor rode, then it immediately switched to come from the northwest and was up to probably 20-25 mph. Waves were splashing over the breakwall, cards were being blown around the table, it was time to head in and back to the dock. Super fun day even without sailing and we already have another Saturday penciled in to attempt to sail again.

When the wind switched to come from the south it pushed the boat northerly and towards the sandbar and breakwall, here we're parallel with it, ideally we want to be perpendicular, but the crew couldn't be happier

Regardless of the rough ocean, there must have been a huge regatta of kids in these Optimus boats, waves and waves of their groups kept coming in back to the king harbor yacht club
